Be sure to have the exactly correct Phillips Head March 12, 2010 Howard G. Iger MD (Bloomfield, CT) Although I believed that I had an appropriate Phillips Head screw driver set....two hours later I had not been able to open the screwed down memory cover for the upgrade.
I ended up ordering a Phillips Head Computer set from Amazon for about $10 with a 1 day delivery for another $20 plus!.... They should have included the tool with the netbook, upgrade, and cover package, and guaranteed that the screw on the cover would not be frozen.
I will try to write a followup review to let shoppers know how practical this packaged upgrade really is.
I have come to trust Amazon to always "cover all the bases" this time they delivering a problematically presented package to me, when I have come to trust that their degree of attention to detail would at least present even simple problems as a possibility and suggest solutions, ...even at extra cost, to such an issue on the main product site.
Good memory for Gateway netbook March 11, 2010 M. Jacks (Atlanta, GA USA) I purchased this memory for my Gateway LT2030u netbook. Even though the frontside bus speed of the Atom 1.6 Ghz processor is only 533 mhz, the 667 mhz memory works fine. I know that I won't get the benefit of the faster memory, but it was cheaper than the 533 mhz memory and it also came with a free 4 GB SDHD card! I could not find a price locally anywhere near the price Amazon wanted for it, so don't waste your time. Just buy it!
Do NOT buy with ASUS EEE 1005HA! March 11, 2010 M. Hong (Seattle, WA) I bought this card at the same time that I bought an ASUS EEE 1005HA. 2 netbooks, 2 cards, multiple customer service and tech support calls later, I still do not have a functioning netbook. The short of it is that these cards do NOT fit well into the ASUS EEE 1005HA, and in the process of figuring that out, the cards KILLED the netbooks. I had to ship my netbook off to ASUS to have it serviced under warranty.
It Works! March 9, 2010 Luther Leong Bought this module for my Acer 1410 w/ Windows 7, however, I didn't realize Windows 7 doesn't make use of the full 4GB (came w/ 2GB and my Home Premium is a 32-Bit OS - you need the 64-bit version to run 4GB or more) that this raises my laptop capacity to, so it was somewhat of a waste in the sense that I'm able to use more, but not quite the full 4GB. Windows 7 is utilizing about 3.3 GB of the installed ram, so I'm not unhappy. For the cost, I believe it was worthwhile. The module itself installed easily and was recognized in the BIOS right away. No problems w/ the item. Just should've done more research of my own.
good upgrade March 7, 2010 Jared B. Jensen (Jared) good upgrade for cheap.... i found it very easy to install on my acer took maby five min. but make sure you use a really tiny screw driver or you will strip the screws.
